Starting Problems, Dodgy Solenoid?
Discussion
Car's been running fine, got in it on Saturday to go for a blast, turned the key and "click", tryed it again no problem, started perfectly.
Went for a drive and stopped off for some go go juice, went to start the car again and the same problem.
On Sunday it was also was playing up, with 3 attempts before it turned over. The click must be the solenoid. Any ideas, why should this just suddenly start happening, is it the cold?

Hmmm?!?
Symptoms of a connection problem somewhere? As Simon says check the obvious ones on the starter, and just to be sure I'd go round the HT leads and ignition booster thingy and coil, too. perhaps you should check that the fuse in in securely, too. Probably unlikely, but it must be worth just doing a double check before jumping to conclusion that it's something bigger.
I take it you've got power from the battery, by the way you say you get a "click" anyway, but watch out for the main, big 80 amp fuse off the battery. Mine went early doors in our relationship and it was a bit of a pain to say the least.
Anyway, nice looking Griff, Kieran - doesn't go with the Thomas the Tank Engine, mind!! (Do you spot trains )

Cheers also for the tips and compliment Ron. The battery is definitely fine, spends most of it time on trickle charge.
What do you mean about the 80amp fuse, is it putting it under strain when turning the key and it just clicks?
Funny story about Thomas, parked up to grab a sandwich, got back and some smuck had parked his train up next to me and was frantically taking snaps.. (things people do for a good photo!!!!)
Nice looking griff you got yourself there also mate, bitch to keep clean I bet...

Sorry - not very clear was I? No, in theory I don't think it should be. But I know that this fuse (and there's another big one just off the alternator) can go occasionally. I am sure I may have been dreaming but on one thread, way back, I remember a post about one of these going. In the meantime the car in question had been showing some quirky electical problems on the way to the fuse's final death. This really is a long shot though! (Although, it's as likely as the cold causing the Griff to be temperamental! )
In the course of the last few years I have learnt (from Dave Batty) that it's worth keeping a cool head and checking the simple things when something odd happens.
