Can any one advise on a known company that will fit a replacement windscreen in the S/West?

Most insurance policies seem to be linked with a windscreen company, eg Autoglass etc. Maybe time for Google?

Had my 92 Griff windscreen done on the insurance. Excess was £60 and it doesnt affect my NCB. Check out your policy. I used autoglass and the car has to go to the depot, they cant do a decent job from the mobile vans. They told me it would take 2 hours but it actually took them about 4 and a half! Did an excellent job though.

I never bothered to ask how much it would have cost if it wasnt through the insurance. Insurance co. said the excess was £60 so just handed over the credit card to the chap at autoglass. I'll have a look on the invoice later but I dont rememeber there being a total amount on it other than the £60. I'll let you know.

PS, it was Autoglass in Taunton that I went to. They did a really good job. Can you not just do it on the insurance? I'm sure with most companies it doesnt affect your NCB.

Try Action Windscreens, 0500 717118. It's Bristol based company who I know does TVR windscreens and their an independant so should be fairly well priced

When I had my screen replaced by PR Wood in Southend (no use to you I know) he said it can be tricky to do a TVR screen if you don't know what you are doing, easy to damage the interior trim round the screen too. The frame goes all floppy with no glass in it. By the way he did an excellent job.

I wouldn't trust Autoglass to do it, but as someone said above, they can do it, just as long as you don't get the spotty erchin instead of the bloke who knows his onions, I would go to a TVR specialist body shop for the work.

I went through the insurance and paid £50, but I think the bill came to around £400-500.

I'd certainly go to a TVR specialist. I've heard comments from Tiv owners previously that they've had problems with the roof panel not fitting properly after they've had their windscreen replaced. Just be careful...

AutoGlass in Bracknell did mine via the insurance (£50)..

Checked with the technian who introduced me to another older technian who had plenty of experience on TVRs (Henley Heritage etc). He checked the car with me and pointed out the bits you had to watch for i.e fitment, bodywork, rubber seals, roof panel fitment etc......

Great job done, car was clean and screen it perfect fitment
