let me assume you need an audio amplifier and ask my question as well-

does anyone know of a very small 3 channel amp that will fit between a couple of small subs (8 inch) above the petrol tank in the boot?

the installer is pretty sure he can make something fit, but I would rather not go with 'pretty sure'

Adam, I’ve just fitted 2 8” pioneer 3 ways to the back of the Griff, that way you get the bass of 2 subs but also much better vocals, I haven’t used an amp as my head unit is 50w per channel which is more than enough for me at the moment.

I enlarged the vent holes into the boot but doing that you need to make sure the speaker will clear the petrol tank filler.

I have a Pioneer GM X402 2 x 70 amp as well as rear speakers and a 6 x Stacker CD player in the boot and it all fits nicely, no problems. Just trust your fitter I am sure there must be plenty of amps that will fit. Rich...

What are the symptoms indicating replacement is required?

Hi All,

Thanks for the pointers. How easy is it to fit the amplifier module to the distributor? It looks to be a tricky job due to it's proximity to the header tank. My car is a 94 pre serpentine model...

Many thanks,

Calvin

Dodgy due to lack of access, but if you can get to the screws and if you have a tool to get them off, you MUST use heat conducting paste between the amplifier and the distributor body when you replace. In fact if the amp's playing up it's worth just re-pasting the original amp first to see if that cures. What are your symptoms?

Paste allegedly only avilable from Land Rover.
Worth noting that an upgrade kit is available to locate the amplifier remote from the distributor (ie in a cooler spot).
