I’m looking at taking the bodywork off my Griffith for a winter project so that I can overhaul the chassis, has anyone ever attempted this and if so how difficult is it, from what I can see it looks pretty straight forward, but I’m sure that there is more to it than disconnecting all the wiring & brake pipes to the engine bay and disconnecting the petrol tank and then just undoing the mounting bolt on the base of the car.

If anyone has ever done this I would really appreciate some good advice.

I've done it on an "M" and it was pretty simple, just disconnect everything, take the body off. You'll have a lot more wiring but apart from that you should be ok.

Remember these cars are built by humans!

As well as the bolts through the floor there are two on top of the transmission tunnel, four behind the fuel tank and two by the rad.also the seat belt mounts and the exhaust manifolds. The hand brake will have to be loosened or maybe removedand then you should be ready to lift the body, which is a tight fit round the chassis,of. Good luck ,David
