The wet weekend has provided a nice pool of water in the rear well, underneath the rear window. I cannot see any points of entry for what must of been a torent.

Has anyone else experienced a similar leak, I have'nt got a clue where its come in, and its actually pooling in the back?

Same here! It appears "the best technicians in the country", according to the director of my dealership, cannot find where it's coming from either! Or the leak in the drivers footwell for that matter.

Kenneth

Is yours still leaking? Mine has taken in loads of water in just two days. If I get any more rain i'm going to get drowned if I brake to hard.

There must actually be a huge inlet somewhere? I'll have to cover it until I find the leak?

Any ideas? Wet suits are expensive.

Did the pool of water develop while the car was sitting still all weekend, or whilst driving?
Mine gathers water in the same spot, but does not appear to be leaking in from anywhere. Instead I seem to be getting a lot of condensation on the back window, which then drips down and soaks the carpet.
I can't seem to prevent the condensation, so my best solution is to wipe it all off the window before I drive off!

Cammers, "allegedly" with condensation all you need to do is leave a large bowl of salt in the car which then absorbs the moisture in the air! apparently the other thing is those little silica gel sachets you get when you buy audio equipment etc new. I may be talking out of my A*&e but its gotta be worth a go.

If I put salts down, they would be washed away, together with any sachets. I don't think this is condensation, as it only happened over the weekend. If I wired a heating element into it, I could have a wash on the way to work.

Its about 1/2 inch deep in one corner.

It may be leaking through your hood....they all got a damn good soaking over the weekend and unless they're waterproofed annually, they can become like a sponge....I know some owners spray a waterproof product (sorry...don't know what its called) over the rear...try your local camping shop!!

I can't speak from experience as I have never used it but the stuff from the camping shops is called Fabsil......Milletts, Blacks and Field and Trek should stock it.

Anyone got any successful ways of freshening up the appearance of the hood (dark blue) on my starmist blue griff, please?

I used a product from Renovo to recolour my blue hood and it came up a treat.

The best stuff is not Fabsil but Thompson's Water Sealer from B&Q. Waterprrofs bricks as well as hoods. Worth doing every 3 months or so in my experience.

I think my colour is called starmist blue (dark blue), it also has a dark blue hood.

Thing is, I don't reckon that amount of water could possibly of come though the material?? It is honestly about 1/2 deep in the back, and every morning I drain it out. It also appears to be draining down to the well behind the drivers seat.

I have not got a bl**dy clue where its coming in. The seals around the fuel filler cap seem fine.

The door window seal can sometimes be suspect - could the water be running down the window, inside the door and out of the door into the interior?

Have'nt checked that, so could be. I know there is a very small gap between the top of the window and seal in the rear corners, where the glass slopes away. I'm not sure a leak there could cause water pooling where I see it though, in the raised section, under the rear window.

I presume you've checked the silicon sealent around the brake resevoir, if this has gone hard you will get a puddle in the drivers foot well, and if you park nose high you can get a puddle in the passenger side footwell, or wear wellies when driving.

Just popped down to B&Q (for something else) and looked at the silicone sealants they had there. The only black one I could see was roof and guttering sealant. This stated that it was a "bitumenising sealant", so I didn't grab any in case thats not the right thing to use. Anyone know any better?

Homebase sell black silicone silicone. About the only place left that does... Motor Factors sell sikaflex and you can this from Compass (who normally do boat stuff but stock this on mail order).

I had a small gap at the top of the drivers window and never got water in through it so I think you can rule that out if you want. Also I got severe condensation but never enuff to pool water so that sounds doubtful for that volume.

I assume you have checked the inside of the roof wetc for staining that would indicate any water running? Other than that it could well be what the others have said - porous roof material

Halfords larger stores sell black and clear silicone sealant still, at least they did a couple of months ago.
