It would appear that I have been the victim of a 4x4xMum parking accident whereby a tow bar hook has smashed my rear number plate. I guess it could have been worse if it had gone through the body work but there you go. Is the replacement a dealer only job or can you get a replacement done up by Halfords etc?? If so how are they fixed on? In a similar vein I also have a small bump on the front end as well (probably similar cause but not as bad). I've thought about stitching some foam or something into the inside of the car cover to make up for the lack of bumpers, any ideas??

They need to be transparent as they are back lit through the plate. Dealer is probably the easiest option. You will need to provide some form of doc as well due to new legislation I understand.

Halfords don't do them and the guy there said that no documentation is necessary.

New reg plates must show the postcode of the place that made them up for you though.

Well my service is up at the beginning of March so hopefully the pieces will hold together until then and I will get the dealer to sort if out. Thanks for the comments though.

Hey Mr 500 GRF why have you chosen this name? I bought a Griff about 8 months ago with the private reg J500 GRF is it anything to do with previously owning my car?

When this was introduced I thought that it must be one of the weakest ideas ever. Perspex is easy to buy as is reflective vinyl and any sign makers will cut letters out for you (or even the bloke at Halfords will sell you them). To too hard to assemble the plates.

MartinN; Not "J" but "P". I guess there may be a few others around too from other year prefixes!

Mole Valley made up my new plate. It's in the new style lettering and has their website address at the bottom. I was under the impression that this was due to advertising rather than needing to show their identification - but I may be wrong.
