Griff 500 owner for two months now. Going up a hill slowly in damp conditions and decided to accelerate briskly...

Car wiggled and started to swing from side to side before it got back in a straight line and I recovered from the slide. Up until this point I was wondering what people meant when they said the Griff could 'bite' in the wet.

Having experienced this I'm suitably more cautious and understanding of the Griff's handling in different circumstances.

The rookie pilot returns from his first dogfight! Wonder which way you were pointing when it all settled down though?? BTW they can do it in the dry too - it's all in the right foot. Survive a few more and you'll be an ace

About a week after getting my first trev (a 4.0 Chimaera) I gave it plenty coming off a roundabout, and very nearly lost it...it was wet and I wasn't going very fast, but I put the heavy right boot in a bit too much, and the car went completely sideways. At that stage, I wasn't used to using the drivers side window to see the road ahead, but have grown more used to it!

I then changed to a Griff 500, and put my foot down on the M25 as I joined it at the J with the M1. Again, it was damp, and although pointing in a dead straight line, still managed to fishtail along the slip road for a good 50 yards or so. Pretty scary actually, as there was a lot of traffic. Boy did I get some weird (admiring?) looks.

Careful in the rain ladies and gents!

c'mon guys, life is more fun sideways! The reason I had to buy the car (Griff 500) was because after exiting the dealers and driving up a hill, the car broke free in second gear. I now know that it was because of cold tyres, but omigod you couldn't get the grin off my face.

The only remotely scary moment I have had was when travelling apx 80kmh on a wet road (warmish tyres) in 3rd gear and the car just started spinning its rears.

OK, it wasn't that bad, but when my heart stopped trying to escape my chest, there was an evil cackle coming from inside the cabin. I was alone in the car....

I think the reason I like the Griff so much is the rear tyres incredibly transient relationship with the tarmac.

Going to a couple of track days certainly made me more confident on the road- and less prone to stupidity

Only one note of caution - take it easy on gravel etc as excessive wheelspinning will just pepper the rear valance and wheelarches. Plus you don't get very far. Save the loud pedal for tarmac!

Had my Griff sideways 3 hours after buying it, at 20mph in third!!

Bloody scary at the time but now I've got used to it, bloody good fun, providing you don't overcook it which is way too easy to do!!!

My missus ended up going backwards on a 'leisurely' trip to Tescos last winter !

I hide the keys these days.

Had my Griff for about 7 weeks now and so far managed to keep it under control pretty much - nothing too scarey at least!

I used to push my Chimp to see how far she'd go and had great fun. Not sure what I'm waiting for with my Griff - I might see how I feel on the way home tonight But then I keep reminding myself that I'm about ready for a couple of new tyres on the back...!
