Well it managed to last another track day but started to leak again at the slave cylinder last night....

Decided to repair it then and there ... had all the kit in the boot ... started to get the pipe out to find it has snapped again ! Should have left it. Decided I couldn't be bothered driving home without clutch as it was busy Sunday evening and had to be recovered.

Has anyone had a braided pipe made up to replace the clutch pipe as this is the 2nd time I have had this happen in the lat 2 months. I have no doubt the last repairers did not do a very good job, but either way I will fix it myself now.

My starter for 10 will be a braided line as per normal but with a 'banjo' unit at the slave cylinder end (like the rear brake lines of the Griffith) to be able to align it with the flex in the transmission which is causing the copper pipe to snap behind the flange ...

Opinions ... ideas .... pattern ?

Can’t you just get a braided hose to replace the copper pipe, shouldn't be too hard to get one made.

That's what the post is about .... just checking whether anyone has done it before.

I want to use a Banjo though as it will sit better behind the slave ...

Apologies for being 'incommumincado' this weekend and not making Combe on Saturday .... I'll call you later and explain.

No problem, had a good weekend, combe was fun in the old mini, its smoking a fair bit but still managed to pass a number of higher powered cars, anyway back on topic apparently most pipe makers will be able to make one up.

Not sure on the use of a banjo though, don’t think the twanging noise will go with the Griff

I have now fitted the new braided pipe and it's currently under going road testing

Very happy with it, much neater, easliy routed, able to take the flex, out of harms way and looks much nicer ... time will tell whether this will stand up to longer term use, but there is no reason why it should not.

Cheers to Mark at Tower View Race Services for getting it made up for me after some initial discussions and measuring etc etc ..

In the end we used a 'banjo' at the slave end which is M12 thread to a 1/4 bore braided pipe. Standard fitting at the bulkhead, although this could do with being 5-8mm shorter perhaps ...

Joolz,

Thanx for the tip on Peninsula, but I would not let them near one of my cars again .... history ....

Mickey,

I know you ordered one as Mark phoned me yesterday .... I am actually going to see him this afternoon so he can see it installed and we can then decide between us whether we could make it even better, I do not think we can. Am very happy with it and have used it for the last 2 days and its been no issue at all.

I did see you thread on the S dorum and I will be dropping you a mail in the next couple of days .... want to discuss something.

Cheers

Mark
