The stuff I've got was from a carpet shop. It's a spray on and holds the carpet very well if the areas you're sticking have a good surface to surface grip, it's probably not so good if the carpet is constantly pulling away. I used it on the parcel shelf to restick the carpet when I fitted rear speakers and it's worked very well. The stuff that the carpet was originally stuck down with was a bit too strong as it managed to pull the threads out of the carpet in one area, so that's worth considering if you're ever going to have to pull it off(ooo errr) again.
The problem I found with a couple of spray adhesives (cant remember names) is that they tend to melt if they get hot (around transmission, in footwells, or in strong sunlight). After this has happened they never harden again and has about as much sticking power as a bag of flour. I used evostick as recommended by someone who does this for a living. Worked a treat and you can buy it anywhere.
