What leads/plugs do people use?
My 4.3 has Magnecor resistive leads and resistive spark plug cap suppressor things, and non-resistive plugs. In fact only 7 resistive spark plug cap suppressor things were fitted (?!) so I'd like to take the rest off. Surely this'll be alright with resistive leads?

I don't know about the resistive issue but I suspect you're right. I think a more important function of the caps is they move the leads away from the exhaust headers so they last longer. I suspect you'll find the plug leads themselves break down much quicker when you connect them directly onto the plugs.

I think you're quite right about the caps directing the leads away from the headers. The car suffers an intermittent misfire and whether or not the 7 caps are the cause (or perhaps cause the coil to intermittently overload/overheat and fail) I don't know.
The caps were a right royal pain in the bum to remove so I'd like to do away with them for that reason also.
I plan to 'heatwrap' the headers and possibly apply similar to the leads to try and avoid heat-related ignition lead failure.

IIRC it says exactly that, the caps are to stop the plugs melting rather than anything else.
