When I bought my Griffith, the previous owner had fitted grooved discs on the front. Apart from looking better than the standard discs, does anyone know what purpose the grooves serve? Are they there for cooling, or increased braking power etc?

Thanks,

Dan.

They aid the pads and disk to cool more efficiently than standard disks.

The grooves allow gas build up between the pad and disk to escape, therefore keeping more of the pad in contact with the disk.

Additionally to this they have the added benefit of cleaning the surfaces of the pads in my experience ...

They may keep the surface of the pads clean, but they certainly add to the brake dust on my wheels. Or maybe that's just the way I drive.....

Thanks for the info though,

Dan.
