Now and again I get a spot or two of oil on my garage floor. As an ex vee dub owner I know that some cars drop a bit of oil now and again. My local tvr garage said it was nothing to worry about as the oil level hasn't fallen much in the last 1000 miles.
How are your grif 500's ...?

Cheers

Could the leak be from your gearbox or diff rather than the engine?

Just a thought.

Mine does that, just keep an eye on the level. Also make a note of where on the floor it is coming from, ie under engine or gearbox etc. If it is gearbox it is worth checking lvel to be safe, engine oil is a lot easier obviously.

More importantly what colour is it?

If it is red it is likley to be from the gerabox or PAS (PAS is common as the pipes do perish and start leaking. Just replaced them on the Griff.

If it is black, brown or clear it is typically engine oil.
Blue is usually coolent.

As Steve said, it is worth checking that it is oil. I had a similar problem with a sudden appearance of wet deposits which turned out to be PAS fluid. A quick tweak of the various jubilee clips on the hoses did the trick - at least until next service when I plan to get the hose condition looked at.

Apparently, the back of the sump can sometimes sring a leak - did on my Griff - and at the other end of the car, the diff can leak too.

You perhaps ought to get Steves excellent book!

After a year of zero leaks, my warranty has just run out and like clockwork a few oil drips have been spotted on the garage floor. I guess I'll jack her up and have a good look one of these days...
