Griff pedal limits
Discussion
Firstly, sorry for the long post and we’re talking a 1992 4.3 Griff.
I’m 5’8 with 31’ inside leg. I want to have the seat rake fairly vertical (to see as much bonnet as I can) but I like to maintain a comfortable distance from the steering wheel. So, having set that up, I’m now too far from the pedals. I’ve had a quick look tonight and I can see that I have about 1 inch of thread out the back of the pedal arm on both the brake and the clutch (although they look quite crudded up).
Therefore, it looks like I’m going to have to use all that thread and, if it isn’t enough, replace them with the Leven Tech extentions. I’d really like some advice from someone who’s done this on the following:
(1) If I take the pedals right up to the last bit of thread (ie. flush at the back) is the thread going to take the stresses (especially the clutch) ?
(2) The clutch pedal (which presumably has to be rotated) looks to me like it simply won’t make it past the transmission tunnel – will it ?
(3) If I go for the extensions, how much more thread will I get and will the stresses be even more of a consideration ?
Obviously, I don’t want to be sat in traffic and the clutch thread break – you can imagine where that’ll lead.
I be grateful for any guidance before I go to work on the pedals this weekend. Thanks.

So long as the thread goes all of the way through the arm, having extra sticking out the back won't make the connection stronger.
There will be enough space to rotate the pedals - be careful though as the thread is offset - you'll see what I mean when you turn it - make sure there is enough room to get your foot alongside the pedal when you finish - if not turn it 180 degrees.
Good luck,
Mike.

I think you'll find that as you get to know the car you will be more comfortable in a relaxed driving position, I'm 5'9" and have no problems, can't see all the nose (mind you the curves and openings I can see are a great view) but then again I can't in many cars I drive. Rich...

I'm the same size as you (the quoted ones anyway !!!)and I may have been lucky but I just jumped in my 92 Griff, adjusted the seat and its been OK ever since. Agree with Rich that you do have to get used to sitting a bit lower in the car etc and I have to do the turtle-neck thing for life saver looks over the left shoulder with the top down (which is mostly all the time)
You can raise the seat - when I bought my first Griff the seat was raised about 1 inch - all you need is longer bolts and either make some spacers, or simply put an extra nut on and use that to clamp to the floor - Apparnelty it was Fernhursts that did this on my car for it's previous owners.
Naturally being a more sensible height (6'2") I took them out straight away.
