Anyone know of the top of their heads what size the sump plug nut on a griff 500 is?.

28mm ish IIRC. Biggest problem is getting enough clearance to get the spanner/socket onto it with enough room to move it.

do you mean vertical clearance?. So the car needs to be jacked up pretty high?

Yes. Also helps in getting a container under to collect the oil.

If this is the first time please be aware of the oil pump priming issue. Search the archives or look in the bible. Don't hang around when changing the oil as there is a risk of the pump draining and needing priming to restore oil pressure. This means dissaemblings bits of engine.
