Greetings from a recent Griffith owner...

I've a '96 Griff 500 currently fitted with Bridgestone Expedia SO1s and wondered what tyre pressures people use. The handbook mentions slightly different sizes of tyre to what I've got so I thought I'd ask.

The fronts are 215/50 ZR15 and the rears are 235/50 ZR16.

22 front 24 back is a good place to start.
Pretty well universal irrespective of tyre size.

That car needs some serious driving. S01s haven't been around for years and you only get 6000 miles out of them (if you're lucky).

Check the tyres haven't perished or gone 50p shaped if it's been standing still for a long time.

SO1s still available in some sizes - got a pair of 245/45 ZR16s recently.

I'd agree, but noted that my SO3s have taken a serious battering in the centre despite me not going above 24...

Course that could be something to do with a little spin on an airfield one day....

You're dead right! Although the mileage is starship (76,000) it's only done 7,000 miles in three years. Since buying it in July I've put a few thousand on it.

What's the current consensus on suitable replacement tyres for the Griff? I'm not intending any track day use just yet, but do indulge in enthusiastic back roads driving :-)

Try a search - there has been a lot posted on tyres. SO3s have received some criticism but if you run standard rims they are a good tyre. I've replaced my SO2s with SO3s and they've been excellent on road and track.

SO3s

Predictable and good wear rates (for sensible users) like 24k front and 16k rear in my experience.
