Left Hand heater vent on dash

Anyone know how this works ? All the hoses & pipes are connected ( I've checked). The pipe appears to disappear into the LH wing area somewhere. It doesn't seam to matter what settings I have on my heater controls or the switch under the dash to the right of the steering wheel, no air ever comes out :-( The RH air vent works fine as does the vent next to the LH door and all the vents in the foot wells.

Errrr is it closed? It is fed from the same supply as the other. Has it become detached from the ally tube?
