Can anyone tell me the correct oil filter to use on the Griff 500?

Not always. There are 2 possibly 3 different ones used, I know as a fact that there is a "long" one and a "short" one. I would suggest that you take some quick dimensions off of yours before going down a motor factors, don't however take the old one off before you've got a replacement ready unless you're fully happy how to re prime the oil pump.

It's worth opening the box when buying a non-Landrover one, as the Champion equivelent does not have the rubber flap valve (as described on Page 42 of the bible) for retaining the oil in the filter so it's primed. This may also be the case with other makes.

I bought a proper landrover filter the other week and it didnt have the rubber flap. The filter was from a TVR dealer, it is the short version of the 3340, dont think the long one fits in the 500.

The correct part is a Unipart Filter GFE320 (long) or GFE422 (short) ... They have the flap and are readily available from Unipart or most Landy dealers.
