Brake Light Sensor

Okay,

This was not working, so I cleaned all the contacts and now the brake lights are on permanently

I understand that if I push the white box physically closer towards the pedel the lights will be okay, but I'm concerned that they will go again.

Is there a definative way to get this sensor working correctly, or is it hit and miss?

Anyone had this sort of problem before?

I had this problem on the way back from buying from griff, the brakes lights were flashing. There was no more adjustment to move the switch closer to the pedal so i wrapped a load of insultaing tape around the pedal, is still working 3k miles later.
