I've noticed a bit of water on the garage floor-about 40ml or so.I've just tightened all the hoses I can see.Hopefully this'll fix it.If not ,and it's something big like the radiator,is it likely to need big bucks to fix it..?

They do have a habit of weeping, but also there is quite a bit of space in a Griff for water to gather. For example if you wash it, sometimes water can gather at the front and drop out later.

I'd be certain its dropping water out of the Rad or hoses before getting too worried. Suggest you collect some using a plastic tray and make sure it is coolant.

You might be able to trace the leak by working backwards from the pudddle. If there isn't an obvious wet joint or leak directly above the puddle, look for coolant flowing along the underside of a pipe or suspension tube.

If you can't find an obvious source, one possibility is that the gasket between the water pump and the engine is failing. Its pretty much a consumable according to the blokes at Walldonway. Fair job to get at as quite a bit of stuff has to come off the front of the engine before you get access to it.

Thanks both for your help.I've since had apoke and a prod about and it seems to have been a combination of accumulated water and nerves from a new tvr owner (3 months)

I have the same worry as I have exactly the same thing. Small isolated pools of water which appears to have dripped off the front chassis members. Never in the same place. I think it could well be condensation as I tend to put the griff away in a cold damp garage with a warm engine (Rightly or wrongly). I also put a bucket of dehumidification crystals on passager seat to stop damp inside. I am contemplating getting a dehumidifier.
Keep checking water level in filler tank as that will tell you if thats the source

Stick you finger in it and taste it - if it tastes like artificial sweetner, its coolant. If it doesn't and you get sick - dont blame me...

Have you got air-con? If so this will leave small puddles of water on the garage floor. Just a thought...

Although it may not be directly relevant my new Chimp does/did exactly the same. The problem turned out to be after washing or driving in the wet. Somewhere the body/chassis retains water, which it then drops on the garage floor. Like you I had concerns where it was coming from and with no noticable drop in coolant level was mistified. When I got over the "car must always be clean" new car syndrome, which lasted a few weeks and we had a dry spell just before Christmas it stopped. Hope this helps.
