I think someone filled my clutch hydralics with a pint of Guinness, (well same colour but rather thin for hydralic fluid)....

First of all I am kinda continuing from Leeky Griff 500 thread that I stole last week...

I've replaced and blead the hydralic fluid for my clutch due to a slightly leaking master cylinder... Mmm it's come out a rather interesting colour..... There also appears to be a lot of black bits in it as well.

I have spoken to my dealer (didn't mention the blackness to them - oops) regarding the leak and they are going so sort it out on Saturday under warrenty.

I guess this is not a good sign, what other problems may be lurking hiding that are related to the "Pint of Guinness"?

The gear changing now is SO SO smooth in comparision to before, its such a dream to drive

A few of my hopefully panic'y thoughts are:

* what about the slave cylinder and pipes as well, if its that back something must be dissolving

* The dealer is going to either replace the rubbers or change the master cylinder as well

* If the slave is still working then the warrenty will not cover it I guess, even if its about to *pop* as well

Ho de hum, oh what fun

Gavin.

Brake fluid turns into nasty yucky black goo when it has been overheated - maybe something similar has happened to your clutch fluid?

Mmm, maybe before my time with the car. Had two overheats due to the famous 40amp fuse.... one about 100 and the other was 120 i think.

Could this do it? What about the back bits, degraded rubber seals? maybe rust - didn't try rubbing it in my fingers to check what they were?
