Should I modify an early griff?
Discussion
Just wanted to get your opinion on whether I should modify my griff or not. At the moment its a totally original '92 4ltr pre-cat. I was thinking about doing the non-blended light upgrades on the back and sticking spider alloys on it. As its an early car should I keep it original? Do you think it might put some buyers off when I come to sell?
Original gets my vote. They didn't make many pre-cats to start with and they get rarer each year, either due to accidents or people replacing wheels, dashboards, lights, seats etc. You have a rare car and it seems a pity to spoil it.
As for resale, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in the long run I think you're better off staying original. Think about the E-Type - do people want a genuine original one or one that's been carved up and had Bloggs & Co's lights fitted?
However, I guess non-blended lights can be replaced with original ones and spider alloys can be removed. Note: bigger wheels with lower-profile tyres will affect handling.

If the chassis is stock 92
i'd sugest that you could tighten things up a bit with single wishbones on the fronts which replace the two piece jobbies which arent as strong...and also a sport anti-roll bar and wishbones for the rear plus polly bushes.
then theres braking etc etc.
Most people have some sort of change to their TVR's including myself so my advice would be to get it to drive better first...

Note the spiders are 16" all-round, so the same at the back and marginally larger at the front, so in reality will have very little effect on ride. If you like them go for them would be my vote. Rich...
Sorry, I thought they were 17".
All the Mods i have done on my Griff can easily be put back to Original.
If you do the light upgrade and wheels Then Keep the originals at the back of the Garage to sell on with the car if need be..
Like someone else said at the end of the Day it will still be a Griffith and There are certainly more and more people after them.
