Parking light coming on?

My parking light keeps coming on, it always goes off, does this mean the pads need changing? I looked in the handbook but it just said it is the parking light and nothing else.

If anyone can help it would be well appreciated.

By parking light I assume you mean handbrake warning light, as oposed to side lights on one side of the car on which are parking lights?

Yer I mean the Handbrake light on the dashboard.

Don't have full address as I can't access from work but as a starter go to http://groups.yahoo.com , I'm now guessing it ends with /group/tvrcc.

To answer your question directly, you need to check:
Brake fluid level i.e. not low,
All 4 brake pads not excessively worn,
Handbrake not on or more likey in this case I guess a dodgy switch (as I assume you've checked the obvious).

Not a warning light to be ignored as it could be warning you that you are about to lose your brakes. If you are not confident, get it checked by a "reputable dealer" is probably the best advice.
