Time to say hello (because I need help)
Discussion
I've been meaning to say hello to you all since I bought my Griff 500 a week last Saturday, but now seems the perfect opportunity.
I was at Bruntingthorpe at the weekend and couldn't resist buying a few shiny bits for my new pride and joy. One of these was a nice metal tax disk holder, which I stuck firmly (so I thought) on the windscreen. But this morning it decided to fall off halfway to work. Cleverly, I wedged it between the glass of the passenger window and the trim, only to see it fall from here too, very uncleverly inside the door itself.
So, I was wondering how easy a job is it to remove and replace the door trim to search for it. Can't see any screws and it seems pretty firmly stuck down.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Get the Griff Bible By steve heath.. It will save you hours, and answers lots of questions like this.
The best bit about taking the door trim of is trying to find the two bolts Inside the door via the hole left by the removed speaker..... Arms arent ment to bend in some directions
Edited to add... I’m not on commission Honest.. www.tvrbooks.co.uk

Or if you are lucky you may just be able to take out the speaker in the door and reach inside. Can reach most things inside the door from here.
Would certainly try this until you are certain that the only way is to take off the whole door trim. Never done it myself but based on previous threads on here it can be a bit if a pain (but there are lots of tips on here if you do a search)

I agree with the suggestion about removing the speaker and reaching into the door to find the disk. Removing the speaker is a quick easy job.
On the Tax Disc front, if it is a metal holder that is supposed to adher to the window with some squiggy clear rubber stickers, then alas I had the same issue, it will not stick to the window no matter how clean it was. However I have seen another car that had fashioned an 'L' shapped bracket that was then stuck to the dashboard top with some foam sticky fixes.

Welcome aboard.
Common problem. I bought a fancy holder where they had cleverly included some fat sticky pads, just so that it could be used on curved screens! A wonder of modern technology to behold, it were.
Looks good!
Neat!
Black!
Loverly!
It lasted about a week before falling off
Back to advertising some dodgy secondhand car dealer now, can't get that one off at all!
(Pretty clever of you to get it to land so that it fell into the door mind - must have been a special bit of driving )

when you retrieve the thing and come to stick it back on the screen here's a few tips. Mine fell off enough times...
Don't stick it too close to the edge of the screen. The curve there is quite steep and you don't get a good grip. About 3 or 4 inches in should do it. Once stuck back on use some masking tape to hold it in place. Those silicone sticky pads need time for the glue to cure. I was away for a week and left mine like this in a cool garage (hot sun will help to melt the glue and it'll fall off again...).
They do spare sticky pads which you can use to great effect - you might want to use more than thee touch points to help keep it in place.
Then all the fun starts again when you can't find the alan key at new-tax-disc time

Wasn't a clever bit of driving Beano, I put the tax disc there myself! As soon as I put it there I thought 'That might fall down inside the door, better get it out...'
Thanks for the advice, I'll have a crack at the speaker tonight.
Just waiting for some tea leaf to help themselves to the nice dust caps I also bought and my first TVR outing will be a complete disaster. The intense heat at Bruntingthorpe melted the glue that held the roof lining in place by the windscreen and it all fell out. 2 hrs of superglue and countless cardboard wedges on Sunday to fix that one...
