I Only ask cos when I had my chimaera 400 I test drove a M reg Griff 500 and was distinctly underwhelmed, now a mate of mine has an un modified p reg 500HC and it is unbeleivable, i have never experienced acceleration like it. Is there really a massive range of performances between 500s of was the one I tested knackered?

There's a lot - most don't put out anywhere near the claimed output until they are looked at by someone like Mark Adams.

Generally thought to be about 260 to 310 as measured on a rolling road before mods. Don't know how much the rolling roads vary though.

But usually does what it says on the tin, so if a 500 feels lacklustre it might either need a bit of TLC or you've got the seat too far back........
