Help! I've cracked the head on my Griff 500, and a new one is 1100 squids. Anyone know of any breakers anywhere, or maybe even you just happen to have a Griff 500 head lying under your bed, taking up space?

Help you be appreciated. Mail to:

Hmmm... I seem to have substituted some words for completely random ones in that message. Maybe it's because I'm still feint after the phone-call from Fernhurst!

Patrick,

Have you tried Douglas Valley - they break Griffith's and Chimaera's periodically www.douglasvalley.co.uk/

there are also some others if you go to Oily pages/Parts and Accessories/Breakers.

You didn't damage it with your chainsaw did you ? (I've got a long memory).

Mike.

Patrick, when I needed a steering rack I tried douglas, they were exceedingly unhelpful and not very cheap. I eneded up getting it from..
Global TVR Systems
St. Ives, Cambridgeshire
Very helpful, reasonably priced and the rack has been perfect.
Not sure of contact details though, you might be able to get those from Offord as they have used them in the past.

Good luck

D.

There is a Lotus dealer in Chartham Near Canterbury in Kent called Motorway Sports!
Somebody I work with claims to know the people who work there, and tells me that they currently have 2 Griff Write offs, on site! I don't know whether they are 500's or not though!
A word of caution though! The guy I work with is known for exaggerating almost everything he talks about, so he could very well be talking out his arse!!!
May be worth giving them a call though!

It is an Alloy Head and as such should be dead easy to get welded up and recut - have to find the right firm though. Just recut / grind the area weld ed to the same as the other chambers not directly effected in the area of the weld and the skim. best to take other one off the get correct chamber volumes - may have to take a few thou of the uncracked one to get them exactly the same - much cheaper and may even get more power.
