I posted a comment the other day on the Tuscan chat board about a forthcoming new 8 part play featuring a Tuscan ( Footballers Wives starts Tuesday 9pm ITV1 ), this got me thinking about other TVRs I have seen featured in documentaries, soaps, films etc.
One that springs to mind was a one-off comedy play on Granada ( ITV ) called " Dancing Queen ", it starred Rik Mayall as an aristocrats son who gets very, very drunk on his stag do ( due to his toffee nosed aristocratic mates! ) and ends up on a train to Skegness with no money, he ends up going off with the stripper who was at his stag do!! It also features Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Clunes. Anyway the main star ( in my opinion ! ) is J631 NFV an Ocean Haze Griff ( owned by Rik Mayalls character ), there are a couple of good scenes ( and even better sounds !! ) of it accelerating away. I just happen to have video recorded it by chance, just been watching the TVR scenes again, one conclusion......I NEED A TVR !! Anyone know of other TVR stars??

Andy ( TVR eventually )

Andy

I remember the Rik Mayall film. Doesn't he go away with the stripper? And I think he ends up in Scarborough not Skegness, but hey, who cares when there's a Griff to watch.

After Mayall and his quad bike would you trust him in a Griff?!

Happy new year!

I remember an episode of Boon, in which the girl in it went out, for one episode with a slimey git with a white Griff. Anyone remember this? Hope it wasnt a reflection aimed at griff drivers.

I'm sorry, I remember that program for Helen B-C's tits rather than any car that may have appeared.

It was that film that made me want a Griffith, I could have sworn it was called "Stag" though. It was the pilot for the one with Martin Clunes in it.

Ashamed to admit I watched an episode of Lovejoy on UK Gold recently - had a burgundy Griff in it.

The Lovejoy Griff' was apparently loaned to the film co. by Team Central - who subsequently received a hadnful of parking tickets in the post for their troubles.

The other Griff I remember on TV was in the dramatisation of (the appauling) Jilly Cooper book 'Man Who Made Husbands Jealous'. The character playing the title role had a gorgues Griff 500.

I've been racking my brains to remember the title of that one. It was on a few years ago (before I took an interest in TVRs) and I could never remember if it was a Griff or Chim. Was it purple?

It was a Griff 500, in a very nice shade of purple, and it look and sounded great.

BBC drama Outside Edge about a local cricket team had a player with originally an S series and then a Chimaera. Obviously the Tuscan has also featured recently in Swordfish with John Travolta.

I saw a Griff in a two-parts TV movie which relates the story of the duel between people from the IRA...sorry Ican't remember the title.
The hero was played by the guy who is the producer in "Wayne's World"...

There was a documentary about designers a few years ago, all about creative types who design funky teapots, motorbikes, vacuum cleaners etc. Can't remember the name, station, or anything remotely helpful, but the boss of the design company drove a Griff!!!

Remember thinking, "lucky bustard"!

Now I've got one!!! Yeah!!

It was one of either Dick Seymour or Richard Powell, in the BBC2 series "Designs on your..." They run a design agency known as, not surprisingly, Seymour Powell...

Just to revisit the Pukka Pies adverts, they were actually taken in the TVR of the owners son.

The pies are made in Syston, Leicestershire.
The chap is seen around now driving a Jaguar - traitor.

Pies, TVR's it sounds like an ideal scenario for PetrolTed.
