I'm the proud owner of a brand new Griff 500. Trouble is I've only done 180 miles as it keeps going wrong with electrical problems.

1. Dipped headlights/main beam stopped working before I got it on the road. Dealer collected it and fixed it. A new controller apparently.
2. New Years day - first drive - indicators conked out. Back to the dealer. They found a loose connection and fixed it, but also found a problem with the speedo head. New part required. Fixed it and returned car to me.
3. Checked the car when it was returned, everything worked fine. Twenty minutes later side lights/dipped headlights failed!
Going back to the dealer on Monday.

I have to day the dealer is as frustrated as me and are doing their best to solve the problem, so I haven't got any complaints about the service I'm getting.

Something is obviously causing the electrical problems. The only non-TVR electrics that have been fitted (by the dealer) are an Acumate battery charger and Tracker.

It goes back on Monday, but if anyone has similar experience and can offer any clues I'd be more than pleased to hear.

Depressed Griff owner!

Can't comment much on the elctric problems you have, though it does just sound like bad luck.

However I would say that there are very few Griffs on the road with their original speedos still in the car. They do have a habit of failing and so second hand buyers need to be sure they know the true mileage of the car they are buying.

I'm sure that once you overcome the electric issues you'll:

a) know loads more about your car than when you bought it which is no bad thing with TVRs and;

b) the snow and ice may have gone so you'll be piling on loads of miles with a massive grin welded on your face!

Don't give up on it yet, after only 180 miles it still has its diapers on! The fun is yet to come!

Yippee!!

It's fixed. Fault traced to an intermittent problem with a dollop of solder on the back of some controller on the back of the light switch touching a bracket. They moved the bracket, fitted a new controller - hey presto. Racking up the miles to get the first service done.

Small world, eh. Any relation to the golfing legend?

See you at the next meeting.
