Que? Can't see anything like a tea cosy on my cat, nor was there one on any of the other cars I looked at before buying mine. Shurely shome mishtake?
This brings me on to underbonnet temperature. It's f@ckin' hot under there. I used to to think my audi quattro got a tad warm but it's got nothing on this. Has anybody tried wrapping the manifold/cat or painting it with a heat insulating paint. Not for any performance gain but just to preserve the poor old electrics and rubbery pipes which must take one hell of a battering being heated to such temperatures. Also the nearside manifold absolutely cooks the air intake pipe, meaning that the engine must be breathing very hot (and therefore bad for power!) air.

The insulation is inside the manifolds so unless you have X ray vision, you won't see them.
Don't wrap the cats. Causes more problems.
Wrapping the manifold can also cause the manifolds to rot PDQ. Stainless ones tend to be OK.
As for under bonnet temps... don't worry. Pretty normal. As for air temp, gets cool when the car is moving and there is little you can do anyway unless you want to cut bodywork.

Who'd have thought that owning a top sports car could improve your culinary skills as well! Should be able to do super noodles in about 2 minutes on one manifold whilst steaming a nice pudding on the other! Wouldn't want to take the chance of accidentally knocking up a flash fried 'hand of tvr owner' minute steak. Perhaps leven technology or mod-wise could come up with some kind of saucepan set?
