What could this be?

Changed Ignition module today and was having a bit of a look around as you do. I found what looks to be a sender/sensor of some kind but not connected to anything. It's screwed in the front of the inlet manifold (right hand side standing in front of the car) next to an injector. It's about 10mm across, brass, with a single connector on top which looks like it would have a female bullet conector attached to it. Anyone know what it might be and should it be connected to something? Didn't notice any loose wires or pipes though.

I've never yet seen any engine bay on any make of car that doesn't have spare connectors and assorted thingies floating about!
(A long time ago and far away, my then-company Sapphire started sounding like a WW2 radial engine. I hastily rolled into a handy petrol station and found a spark plug, still attached to its lead, flopping about in the engine bay... and yep, it was just after a service)
