Recently purchased a 94 griff 500 HC , cars wonderful except for one thing the alarm has a weird fault. When you park the car up after a good run and lock the doors the alarm arms as normal. But after about 10 seconds the indicators begin blink intermittently with a ticking sound (probably a relay). The alarm then proceeds to go off. The fault seems to go away after about 10 minutes once the cars had chance cool down a bit. The alarms the original GEMINI unit, has any one else had similar problem?.

Have a look at the light switches in the door openings - might not be making full contact with the doors when they shut - try taping the switches fully closed before closing the doors and arming the alarm?

Yes , thats the first thing I tried , but this has no effect the switches seem to be getting fully depressed. I think the problem is caused by heat as the alarm system works perfectly once the car is cool.

If the indicators relay clicks loud enough, or maybe you've got a real loud 'pinging' from the exhaust as it cools, and the cars maybe got a glass break detector near the fuse box...? Not really sure 'cos mines a 92 car without a (SHhhh...) working alarm - central locking only.

I'll send the lads round tonight to lift it - thanks for the tip off!

Didn't mention the immobiliser and the ATGK (anti-theft gearknob)- a T5 gearknob on a Rover gearbox always fools 'em when they try and find reverse to back it out of the garage...

Thanks again - anything else the lads need to know?

Don't bother breaking in - just see my wife - she'll probably give you the keys and £20 for petrol just for taking it away. Cue "what about the front room/porch/garden wall etc instead of playing in the garage..."

OK mate I get the message - I'll get the lads to lift your missus instead and leave you and your TVR to enjoy life!

If you've got a patio leave a few picks and shovels and we'll relay it for you - it might sit a bit higher though!

There are no other faults that I am aware of (but I will double check tonight after the run home from work in the car)
