Well she has to go :(

The time has come where I am spending more time with my woman and hardly get to use little Nelly (Griffith 500).
After talking about getting married and finally doing the dastardly deed, I have put her up for sale on Pistonheads. Had a sickly kind of feeling when I sent the ad to Ted.
Maybe I will have some change left for a cheep Caterham I hope.

Wedding plans and house hunting means the extra equity is needed.
I find it so very alien how some people manage to spend a lot of money on just one day. 'Friends' of ours spent 18k and that was just on 60 people
Give me a nice car and I will be happy.

Marriage is for mugs IMHO , its 00's you know,
Why do people require spending shit loads on a wedding for a piece of paper the doesnt give the right for you marriage to even last.
I could understand a few years ago that people felt they had to for the kids sake when going to school etc but this has all changed now.
What i'd do if i was you is keep the griffith if you do feel that sickly about selling it. borrow a bit more and spend the money on a damn fine Holiday and House. and prove your undoubted love for you other half another way rather than an 18k piece of paper that doesnt even give you tax relief now
All IMHO of course

I'm with Big M here. Even £5k on a wedding is a lot I think. My sister got married in church on a Wednesday (so there were no hangers-on), and went back to the house afterwards and had curry and champagne. Not expensive, and the most fun and memorable wedding I think I've ever been to - people still talk about it.
You sure there's no way round it?

We almost spent that, including the honeymoon....
....on the plus side Mrs kdd hired me a Griff 500 for 24 hours as a wedding pressie.
its the same with kids, when you say we can't really afford them everyone always says oh yes you can , you find a way, yep but selling the car, living on bake beans and working 24 hours a day don't sound like fun -
if you sell the car, you may never get back into that bracket, clear out the oldies house and do a boot sale, thats always good for a few quid, would seriously recomend hanging onto the motor. we had a corvette stingray 1972 for 7 years, it had to go, but for a tuscan, so not such an issue!! - just advertise the car at a toooo high price and see what happens, loads of our blokey mates do this, and at least they can genuinely tell the better half, at least they tried
xx

very sorry to hear about your loss.
But
If it wasn't for people like you making these sacrifices people like me would not be able to have a car like this.
I am having the quotes done now for suitable accomodation for the new baby I am looking for. Once this is complete and I have replenished the bank balance a little I shall be off to find a cherished baby, which will have all the pampering and attention required. (Provided those pesky teenagers keep away).
How do you fancy waiting until October to sell?
Could part ex a 12 month old Clio (no stupid suggestion )
Perhaps keep it and use it as a wedding car and then have the honeymoon in it. You will still need transport!

I bought my first Griff as a 'distress purchase' becasue the owner had just got divorced and needed the loot. He was really crushed about losing it so I promised to give him first refusal when I came to sell it (unfortunately he still couldn't afford it even after three years of depreciation, boo).
But the point is that you could always ask the buyer to call you first when he wants to shift it...

OK, don't buy a house - live in other people's instead for nothing: www.happyhousesitters.co.uk
lol nice idea, we have a house we are interested in and after been to the building society today we can afford it and keep the Griff so long as the price stays as it is.
Problem is if it goes up as they all seem to be doing, we need that bit extra.
We have done 3 car boot sales already, there is not much left to sell
