I used to have 2 sets of max NCB but lost 1, I'm looking to insure 2 cars again now and am sure I've read somewhere about some insurers mirroring any NCB on a 2nd car, any ideas/recommendations ? ...maybe it wasn't mirrored, just some sort of deal. Privilege don't for one
What's to stop someone insuring a second car with a different insurer using the same NCB entitlement as the first ? I mean all they usually ask for is a copy of your renewal quote showing the amount of NCB. Am I missing something obvious here ? like maybe they input the details into some sort of database which in the event of a claim they check....I dunno.

I'm insured on the tiv with CassicLine - 01455 63900 - and recently enquired after insuring a second 'everyday' run around.
They were very helpful and said they could apply my max NCB (protected) to the 'normal' car and then mirror the full NCB on the TVR policy.
I haven't actually done that yet so I don't know how competitive the rates on ordinary cars are but the premium on the S is v good
Good luck!

They'll be happy to take your premium payments for now - but if you make a major claim and then can't produce the 5 yrs proof when they ask for it you'll be screwed.
This is wrong IMHO - if they accept the payments they should be required to pay out. This would put the onus on them to be sure they are happy with you as a customer before accepting your £££s.

A couple of comments ...
If you lie to them and say that you have NCB when you are using it elsewhere you will be in breach of contract. Try and claim on that (i.e. insurance claim) and they will tell you where to go.
NCB is purely a part of the negotiation process - when I went back to owning cars rather than company cars, a mate of mine who is an insurance broker simply said -I'll ask for 40% - I do X hundred thousand pounds business with them - they'll give it to me - and they did.

Earlier this year I bought a 95 4L Chim and the broker put me with Aon. I have full NCB on another car with Zurich but Aon just work on a basic price. Costs me £600 with mileage limited to 5K, car has to be garaged and be a second car. I'm really not sure how this compares with others but would be interested to know come renewal - I didn't shop around at the time due to lack of time, apart from, now I remember, Footman James who wanted £900 & that was using my NCB too! I think if you have mirrored NCB you can't transfer it until you've built up your time with it, if you know what I mean.
