glove box catch

I've just searched the forum for this but found no tips. Does anyone have a recommendation as an alternative to the useless piece of plastic that TVR use as standard?

Abandon hope all ye who enter this thread!
I've just fitted a pair of magnetic catches - one to the glovebox and one to the dash - in place of the orignal items, and it doesn;t really work without the assistance of some thin card wedged into the side of the glovebox.
I'd love to know how TVR ever hoped the original part would work, and I've yet to happen upon a more suitable replacement, and on close inspection, there's not too much room to actually fit anything more substantial.

Sorry I can't be more positive!

Described in the bible. Normal problem is the catch pulling through which can be solved with some cable ties or by making a mount.
I found the standard latch to be a good indication of tampering... I left the Griff in a pub car park a few weeks a ago - noted a few 'yoofs' in the general area - and when I got back to it the glovebox was down. Naturally I'm not daft enough to keep anything useful/valuable in there but I'm sure the yoofs had a look and then couldn't close it again....
Next time maybe I'll put a mousetrap in there !!!

I had problems with this catch, until one day I lost it and slammed it shut shattering the thing into a million pieces. Realising what I’d just done I picked up all the bits and set about re-building it with Araldite. Believe it or not since then (well over a year ago) its been fine.
Cheers,
Simon.

A bought a couple to keep some spares. I used a small self tapper to keep the 'hook' part of the catch attached to the glove box.

I gave up & just tightened the grommets in the glove box with an allen key.. the result is its stiff enough to stay closed, but easy enough to open. Or something like that.
