Anybody got any new ideas on this situation? I`m on my third catch now and thats just broke, so I`ve taken the whole thing out. Major problem with mine is the hole where the plastic catch goes in has become a lot bigger. Any ideas much appreciated this is driving me mad!

Give this a try, never tried it as mine has always been OK, touch wood. From Peter Beech's website. . . . The glovebox catch has been a sore point [on the Griffith]. Basically the female part of the catch, which should reside in the dashboard, doesn't locate properly - slopping around in too large a hole and either misaligning itself or falling out completely. My solution was to knock up the following small adaptor plate from a piece of scrap plastic (perspex?). . . . http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Peter_Beech/TVR/interior.htm The real knack was fitting it - I did it by clipping the catch to the plate then clipping this to the male part of the catch on the glove box lid, covering the whole thing with glue and gently closing the lid. Once the glue had set I opened it up, pilot drilled through the holes and secured with small self taping screws . . . Snap.! (quite literally) I get my catch replaced at every service and sometimes in between.!! I'm on my 6th now and it too has come loose. The hole has become too big for the catch.!! My previous Griff had the same fault but TVR centre barnet put in a Coffin catch which worked a treat - I've asked them to do this with my current car and they now apparently can't get them. The DIY self fix seems like a good idea... if you can do DIY - I can't draw a straight line with a ruler.! Hmm..

I've cheated & tightened up the grommets either side so it stays closed but can be opened with energetic pulling & fingernails. My old S2's one was lovely. I tested a 96 500 that had a metal catch that the chap's pal had fitted for him - wish I could remember what he'd told me about it. Didn't listen too intently as I didn't think it would be such an ongoing pain in the arz.

Take the female bit out of the dash, use a cable tie to hold the lug bits open, then push it back, did the trick for me

This one is easy - the night before you intend to fix the problem, order a take-out indian. The next day, peel the card board lid that fits over your rice container from off the kitchen floor, roll it up and shove it up the side of the glovebox. It holds it nice and snug!

The problem I have is not so much the female catch falling out, (it does)but the alignment of the male & female catches, so when the glovebox is shut, the catches actually catch. B

Had my Griff 3 weeks. In that time two passengers have gone "what's this?" got their fingers in the gap and just ripped the glove box open. Second time ripped the catch out. Everyone gets warned now. Driller Ice Blue Griff500

Hi I continually tighten up/fiddle with the pivot points. And I get it to shut again. But what I really want is a glove box that works. Anyone know of a replacement catch, or similar B
