Help no oil pressure!!!!
Discussion
The oil pressure gauge on my 92 griff is currently reading 0lbs! The oil pressure light is not comming on and the engine is running ok so I'm not too worried however I would like to get it fixed. The problem is probably at the sender however where is that?
There are two sender/switch type things around the oil filter, one towards the front which is white plastic and has a single connector and the other just behind which is a metal 'cylinder type thing' (covered in muck!) with one wire connected. Which one is the oil pressure sender for the gauge? Or is it somewhere else?
I only noticed the gauge not working as I glanced at it yesturday and it could have been like that for a while, also when I switch the ignition on the gauge goes all the way up to 100lbs then drops to zero when I start the engine. So it definatly seems electrical.
Thanks in advance
Chris.

Thanks Rat, I've jacked up the Griff and removed the front wheel and worked out which one is the oil pressure light switch and which one is the pressure gauge sensor, as you said the cylinder shaped one with the single wire on the top. Now when I remove the wire and short it to earth the gauge goes up to 100lbs, this says the gauge is working ok. I have metered the sensor and it is open circuit, I should get some resistance there? If so what should it read? any ideas out there? Definatly sounding like a dodgy sensor to me, any one know the best place for a new one? Is it a TVR part or Rover or other?

Give the TVR Centre in Barnet a call, tell them which part you need and what the guage looks like and they will send it to you, next day normally, always found them really helpfull and quite reasonable, ie, cheaper than LandRover for Land Rover parts etc.
