The 2 black plastic directional vents in my Griff 500 alloy dash keep popping out particularly if the air con is on and the dash gets cold/contracts.Ideally I would like to replace these(and those at the ends of the full dash) with some nice alloy vents but whilst Leven make alloy vents for windscreen/dash top they don't seem to make the major directional vents.Does anybody have a source and if not any advice on how to restrain the existing plastic ones would be welcome

I think Leven do some ally covers that go round the outside edge of the vents, but the inside bits stay black.

correct see

See a bit more here or in my profile.

Behind the vents and at the end of the vent tubes is an aluminium Boxed section that slides over the rear of the vent. This sometimes splits at the corners and then falls off which would make the vent loose.
Also on the vents is a tiny plastic lip that sits snuggly at the back of the dash as you push it in, if the vents have been in and out a fair bit then this lip wears away.(ganerally the lefthand dash vent as this is taken out to get to the dash nut)

I don't think the Leven cover will stop the vents popping out of the dash.

Although it's entertaining to see just how far you can make the vents fly with some "committed" acceleration, you can fix it by removing the vent and applying some mole grips to the metal trunking to make it narrower. Be careful though as the metal trunking is attached rather flimsily to the bulkhead.

Oooh - I just use that feature as an acceleration meter!

See if you can catch it as it flies past your head!!!!

Edited to say: "damn, got there first!" and note that I'm not alone!
