Hi,
If you read Steve Heath,s jolly excellent book he advises against fitting speakers in the vents in the rear bulkhead as they are there to prvent a pressure build up in the boot causing you boot lid to fly off
My Griff has speakers mounted on the rear bulkhead just inboard of the vents and they seem to work well

I had the vents switched for speakers and it works very well - you can now hear CD's at speed which you couldn't before - took less than an hour and about £100 if memory serves.
Downside is that I think Pioneer have stopped making the matching ones to the fronts now. I only found mine by accident.
Incidentally, I didn't realise that the car was so airtight that it needed extra holes in it

Oh, come on, Marshy! Don't tell me you're one of those who fills the entire car with metal boxes and then plays a series of tones designed to blow the ears off gazelles at 200 paces!
If you're in a Griff, frankly it doesn't matter what speakers you have, they'll be knackered by the GRP body and the noise coming from the pipes running under your bum! If you can hear that it's actually music and not the shipping forecast at over 50, you're doing quite well.

Nope, I'm not a car hi-fi freak. However, I do like to be able to hear the bass in my music. Why? (a) I'm a bass guitarist (b) If it was there on the recording, I'd like to be able to hear it.
The standard Pioneers turn to mush as soon as you try to throw anything near a full frequency spectrum at them. I stuck some Infinity Kappas in the front, and a cheap end of line pair of 6x9s in the back, and now I can feel my internal organs jumping around when I crank the stereo up. The head unit is a standard Sony minidisc head with a claimed output of 4x50w.
When I have to be on customer site, I have to do the amusing Cambridge-Cheltenham-round-trip-with-a-days-work-in-the-middle thing. While the exhaust is undoubtedly lovely, I do like to get some alternative and halfway decent sounding aural entertainment some of the time.
