The wipers on my Griff have started "parking" themselves any place they fancy on the screen, which is a particular pain on intermittent wipe.

I read somewhere that this could be caused by a faulty relay, so I replaced the intermittent wipe relay with one easily sourced from a Vauxhall dealer - but no difference.

So I turned to the "bible", and read that the bit that makes the wiper blades park in the right place is under the wiper motor. AS suggested, I removed the bracket so I could twist the motor up, and get to clean-up all the connections. No difference. I then managed to unclip the control thingy, thinking I might be able to do more, but no! So my questions are...

Can I get a replacement bit that makes the wipers park properly?
How on earth can I fit it?! The clip is between the wiper motor body and the module, and I don't see how you can get to it to snap it on when the parts are brought together!

Mine only ever park properly if the screen is really wet, otherwise they stop anywhere upto 45 degrees from the park position. They've always done this, and new blades haven't helped. If the wipers are in the lift position, the motor parks them properly - it just struggles with the friction of the blades on a dry-ish screen.

Have you tried lifting the blades and seeing where the motor parks them?

You can buy a new park switch from your dealer for less than a tenner. When you get the new clip it's much easier to see how it fits. The plastic switch has a metal spring clip attached, and a pin to locate it on the wiper motor. You can slot in the spring clip under tension and slide in the switch until the pin lines up with the hole in the motor. The switch will then snap into place.

Trust me, it's much clearer when you've got the new bits in your hand! Otherwise I'm sure your dealer will fit it in 5 minutes

Sounds like the park switch needs replacing.

Its located on the motor and is where the electrical conector plugs into. You normally have to undo the retaining clip, 2 bolts , so as to be able to lift the motor slightly.

not very expensive to replace if memory serves.

Thanks, Pete. I'll have another go tomorrow, with renewed optimism!

I hope it's the park switch. Mine had similar symptoms and all the standard wisdom was this. Turned out to be a broken wiper mechanism so I needed a whole new wiper motor .

Fortunately, it was the wipe switch and, as Pete said it would be, easy to change. At £4.89, this must be one of the cheapest TVR parts!
