I've have a battery drain that I've tracked the Fuel pump Relay and the electric widows, they are currently draining about 0.45 amp at the moment and it will drain the battery to a state where the engine won't turn over in a day or 2.

Can someone please tell me if my Fuel pump relay is the correct one that switches off when I turn off the engine. The 2 relays part number I currently have is a Bosch 0332014112 and a Lucus / Bosch 33393.

Can anyone tell me why the electric window is draining current when its not used. Is it relay again?

Thanks in advance.

Fuel injection relay (x2) Part No. Bosch 0332014112 (Land Rover Part No. AFU2913L) If wrong type of relay used power runs to Air Flow Meter when ignition is off.

Onny,

I've currently got a problem with current drain. For me its the 'electric windows & interior lights fuse'. This does indeed flatten the battery rather quickly so I've taken to unplugging this fuse when I leave the car. So far its been sitting for 2 weeks and turned over very quickly a couple of days ago with no probs to move the car. I'm currently trying to find out if its the interior lights...which aren't working, or the windows..which are working OK. Hmmmmmmmmm. Are you sure that its the fuel pump and not the lights. I've got a 98S Griff so the fuses may be different.

Snarfy,

I've got both problems. I've used the multimeter in series with the battery and found that fuse # 2 (ECU and Fuel Pump Relay) drains about 0.2 amp and Fuse # 4 (electric windows and interior lights) drains about 0.24 amp.

My internal light is not working also but I've been told that the Interior light delay module which switch off the light after X seconds after the door is closed could be the cause of the problem but I need to find out where this module is so I can do further investigation.

I need to find out the correct fuel pump relay part number before replacing it or not.

Onny,

I've finally pulled out the interior light delay relay. With this removed the current drain ~200mA like yours ceases. I just hope its the relay and not the electrics somewhere along the line. Incidentally, the part is a ford part wit8h the numbers 68125 and 85GG 13C718 AA written on the top with 81A671 stamped onthe side.

Anyone out there know if the part is easily available from any TVR place ?

Snarfy, thanks for that. I will try removing the relay and see what happens as well. Is the relay on the fuse panel or is it with the wiring loom.

Does anyone know what the correct Fuel Pump Relay part number is?

Onny,

Its located on the main fuse panel at the top right most point. If the fuses all run along the bottom of the panel...the relays sit along the top of the main line of fuses. There are two at the far right and the interior light relay is the top right one.
NOTE: This is for a 98S Griff

As for the correct part number for the fuel pump...haven't a clue but if you are in the North London area then I'd recommend Tower View Race services. Mark and the gang there are fantastic.

Onny,

Quick search yielded the following from 'the big green one', Mr Peter Humphries. (Thread is 'FUEL PUMP RELAY' in the Chimaera section 8th Oct 2002).

and I quote...

"It's one of the two relays that have small metal cases, dangling off the main loom. The other relays are bigger and have plastic cases. The fuel pump relays are special in that they are Bosch dual pole relays rather than the normal run-of-the-mill changeover relays, and they're relatively hard to get hold of. Land Rover dealers and TVR specialists will supply them but will relieve you of about £18 each for them.

If you get stuck, the car will run on a normal changeover relay, but remember to pull it out when you leave the car or you'll have a flat battery a couple of hours later. "

Snarfy,

thanks for the details. Have pulled out the interior lights relay and the drain on the battery was reduced by about 0.22 Amp. As my interior lights weren't working anyway it not going to cause any problem. If I can sort out the fuel pump relay then I will only have a 0.04 amp drain from the alarm which will mean the car can be left for weeks if not months without the battery getting flat! That will be a change.
