Repairing manifold heat shield on inner wing
Discussion
I recall there was an earlier thread regarding repairing/replacing heat shield on inner wing beside exhaust manifold. My 4.3 precat has burnt a small hole in the heat shield and an acrid smell of hot glass fibre is filling the car. I think 2sheds and torquemada had a easy remedy. Can someone remind me and give details of where to get replacement heat shield material and suitable high temp resistant adhesive to fix it in place. Any help appreciated.
On the pre-cat cars the inner wing was too close to the manifolds, so a common problem ,many had modifications to prevent this by fitting concave grp panel beside manifold.
for a quick repair you can buy the heat shield (glass woven blanket with silver foil on one side) from Think Automotive 020 8568 1172 or Demon Tweaks .
apply with high temp adhesive like epoxy and use aluminium flash tape around the edge.
if you need more help call or email me.

I had the same problem - you should get to the thread from the link below:

Torquemada's suggestion was to try a company called agriemach - I ordered it on thursday and came in the post the next day. I think i paid about £25 for the size i needed - it was just enough to do both sides. I used JB Weld epoxy to stick it on as araldite is only recommended up to heat of about 90 degrees. this stuff is good for at least double that, and you can get it from Halfords. I have had it on about 3 months now and no problems.
