Can someone please give me an idea of what a competitive quote should be for having my windscreen replaced. Also, is it better to go to a dealer or call a windscreen specialist to have it done?

Cheers

If you're fully comp then around 50 pounds for the excess cost. Had mine done by AutoGlass in High Wycombe - no probs with the quality of their work. Had to leave the car with them instead of them coming to me though so the best guys could work on it (like all the tricky cars judging by the cars parked outside).

Something in the region of £500. Well worth getting somebody who has done this type of car before, it's very easy to damage the interior trim when cutting the old one out.

make sure if you ever get your windscreen changed or refitted that there is plenty of trim on the top section, some later models suffered from shrinking and once the leather or ambla falls down it looks terrible - the only way to cure it is to take the screen out again.

I recon unless going through your insurance it should be £360 + vat from memory. (they charge a load more if it's through the insurance )

completely agree with trefor on this one.had my old chim screen relaced at autoglass gloucester(took it to them)they did a first class job, even renewing the rubber trim which many have difficulty getting right, and the workmanship was gauranteed for life-that includes leaks!.all in it only cost me £50 with my insurance co.(doesnt affect your no claims bonus).just ensure they order a genuine tvr screen and new trim when you book it in.
