Being the proud owner of a Halcyon Atlantis 4.0L Chimaera with sports exhaust, new brakes, new tyres and all the toys which I love (and which has never let me down and any minor issues (reversing light) etc have allways been fixed under waranty which I still have) I am in the need for more power / the ultimate as I see it I have two options :
1. Sell my beloved(the car is for sale if anyones interested just mail me)and buy a 500 in exactly the same spec and colour which doesnt seem to be that easy so many dogs for sale !!
2. Buy an 5.2L engine and have my well behaved car with the power I want !!

So that's the dilema and to make it worse my local dealer who will remain nameless wanted £8000 to change mine into the same spec and year 500 !!!! the expression sex and travel came to mind so any advice or experience would be greatly recieved some one must have had the same thoughts !!

Thanks
Julian and R254 MMR

I've had the same problem. More power needed in my 4.0 Chimaera which has had new brakes, suspension, aluminium widgets and all sorts...

Installing a new engine will probably cost as much as selling it and stumping up for a 5.0, at which point you start again.

There is no answer to this -- you just have to decide which option is best FOR YOU.

Have you thought about trying some of the specialist salvage/breakers for a 5 litre Griff/Chim motor. I haven't looked recently but you could probably pick up a low miles engine & box for less than £5k.

do the brakes etc need to be upgraded on your model, I believe after a certain year all chassis' were the same which could make the engine upgrade an option

Have you considered a fully mapped engine management system and plenum/trumpet mods - you sould see a good increase in power and improved economy for £2K - £3K.

Apologies for the shameless sales tactics guys but...... I have my 96P 500HC (350 bhp) for sale advertised on this site -www.pistonheads.com/ads/adverts.asp?s=1 - and would be more than willing to 'discount' in order to sell quickly (starting new business means other priorites) especially as otherwise I'll be forced to resort to selling to a dealer.

You can contact me on 020 8555 0012,

Ben
