A trivial question, I know but…to check the clutch fluid level the manual says just undo the self tappers holding the cover in place. Mine is bonded on with the black silkaflex stuff as well. Is it necessary to seal it up again? - seems a bit of a pain to have to do this each time I want to check the fluid level.

TIA

Yep you will have to seal it again, does not just stop water ingress but engine fumes into the interior, suggest you scrap away the gunge and stick some draft excluder type foam around the edge.

Many thanks - the draught excluder sounds like a good idea.

It's not. Water flows over the panel in a big downpour. Really would use a sealant.
