My Griff never made it home from Blackpool yesterday

I noticed whilst stuck in that queue on the M55 that my volt meter was only showing just over 11, but as no other warning lights were on or flickering I carried on home thinking it was just a tad hot and bothered. Nearly 100 miles later as backed off for some debris on the M62 the volt meter dropped and she stated miss firing. I pulled over and the engine died completely.

The recovery got to me within half an hour with a flat-bed low loader as requested (green flag, well efficient) but still no life could be induced with a jump start battery, so after a night on the back of the truck she’s off to TMS this morning.

Which brings me to the point, any idea’s. I would have thought alternator, but the light never came on or even flickered and it did last time this went US. I couldn’t get underneath to check the fuse link, but again this should have shown on the ignition light. All low power stuff still works door relays etc. though I didn’t lock it just in case.

Cheers,

Simon.

Same happened to me, can't remember if the light came on or not but a new alternator fixed the prob, unfortunately you might have boiled your battery as well though

The plastic case is a bit poxy and inevitably it had started to corrode till it reached the point of failure. So this weekend I’ll mostly be blathering the new one in something protective.

Since I was at TMS and it was quiet, I got to take a Tuscan out for a test drive, Hmmm I’m well tempted to defect here chaps.

Cheers,

Simon.

Fuse links are a common thing to go, mine went.

I carry a spare in the car just in case.
