This evening I jacked my car onto axel stands and removed the wheels for their refurb. I noticed an awful lot of black oil all over the under side of the car from the gearbox area backwards. After lying under the car in a state of shock and pound signs rushing through my head,I noticed a hole! I do however believe this hole is meant to contain a bolt. Is this the gearbox drain? If not what is it?

I cant sus out this picture uploading so I can email anyone a picture of the HOLE!

Fingers crossed!

Thanks guys

Mike

Yep its meant to be there(access hole), should have a cover over it but doesnt do it any harm not to be on, aids with a bit cooling probably, mine wasnt on and i have heard of overs been left off.
Its usual that a small amount of oil leakage.
You try a search i think this has been up before.

Its quite amazing how many things work there way loose on the Griff and other TVR's I expect.
I was under last week and all the sump bolts were coming loose,
The back exhaust holding plate was also coming loose.
The Rear anti rollbar was coming loose (the strange clunk when turning corners made me check).
When I got the car the front main suspention bolts were also on the move.

It is now on my list of quartly yearly checks to just get the 17mm out and check the little bugg3r5
