does anyone have any great techniques for filling with petrol without getting fuel blowing back onto the filler-cap surround. i always fill with optimax and ive tried:

- stuffing the nozel all the way in

- only stuffing the nozel a little way in

- filling quickly

- filling slowly

- covering the filler hole with those handy plastic gloves which they provide while filling

but whetever i try i always end up wiping fuel off the paintwork at the end and given that with a tvr you fill up about every 10 minuntes this cant be good.

it is true that some pumps seem to be better than others but i don't think i can bring myself to admit that i might start to commit them to memory...

I find it easier to fill if I put the nozzle in as far as it will go, and then turn it 90 degrees anticlockwise. Need to put something between the handle and the boot though, just in case. A glove or something like that will be enough to cushion it.

Rude Girl's right, unless you twist the nozzle anticlockwise it won't go fully into the filler neck. You'll know when you've got it right as there will be a 'clunk' as the nozzle drops down another inch or so.

Carry a short wide funnel in the boot then fill as fast as you want - no spills. You can hear when fuel enters the bottom of the filler tube, i.e. when tank is full. Could this be another aftermarket modification idea?
