It's upsetting how these things initially look fairly superficial and then the eye-popping estimates come in.
Try getting your own estimates from local TVR specialists - you may find they are significatly less. If they are and your insurance company does write it off, offer to buy the "wreck" off them and then get it repaired out of the money they give you. You may even make a nice profit.
Only downside is that when you come to sell the car it will be listed as being written off and repaired.

Unfortunately It's not driveable so getting more estimates would be a right PITFA.
I really can't be ar5ed either. I only got it back from the last (fox induced) repair in December, so I just want it sorted asap or a cheque thru' the door.
I would try & buy it back if it's written off but my insurance company have a policy of not selling slavage back to the customer.

LAedfoot know how u feel mine was would have been written off if i hadnt taken the contract repair route.
Mine had around £13k worth of damage apparently.
Contract repair means they will use some NonTVR Blackpool parts/Second hand of course not on major mechanical parts.
Things like doors and door mirrors are a good example of being really expensive if brought from Blackpool, but if u buy some wind mirrors from a second hand Citreon dealer you will save a load.
It also eliminates the buying it back after it being classed as a write of when it doesnt realy need to be.
Have a word with Jason at TVRBodyshop in Nailsea and he might be able to help.
Drop me a mail if you need any more info.

Leadfoot,
sorry to see your Griff bashed, must be gutting especialy as it wasn't your fault, thats my biggest worry when im out in mine too.
anyway its not all bad news because if I was in your shoes seeing as the front n/s is shagged i'd be very tempted while it was in hospital to have the Cerbera upright/wishbone/brake mod done as did Richard Branch in this months Sprint.
The rear uprights are a relative straight swap but the front mounting/suspension points are different and have to be re-welded...
just a thought.
hope all's well soon

Thamks for sympathy all.
I won't be investigating the cerbie stuff 'cos my suspension/brakes are (were!) pretty well sorted.
The majority of the cost appears to be made up of the mechanical spares & front end repair panel, but if it does look like being written off I'll get another estimate done. Doesn't help that it's not driveable tho'.

If the chassis is twisted someone like RT might be able to do it at reasnable cost. They quoted a fixed price of £3500 to re-powder coat my chassis - this included any replacement chassis rails that might be required due to rust in my case) so I would have thought they could do something similar with a bent one.
NB: I didn't use hem in the end due to the distances involved so I can't comment on them other than the quote.

Have they measured it? I know of one Chimaera which skidded in the wet and hit its Front off side wheel on a kerb, bent suspension and rack only.
On reassembly, they found the chassis had bent about 3mm upwards. The car was driven back to Blackpool and the chassis was replaced - TVR said it was not safe to straigten it.
I've just found out that the repair has been authorised by my insurance company. Seems that they gave the go ahead on the 7th but didn't bother to tell me about it until I chased them up today (just got back from hols/Folembray).
Mole Valley say that they're "waiting for parts", suppose it'll be a nice long wait for TVR to produce a repair section then
Fingers crossed that the hire car companies insurers will admit liability, they've got another week left to reply to my lot.

Sorry to hear about the accident Leadfoot.
Just my bit of advice... write the car off if you can!
It's been 6 months since mine went in for accident repairs and its still not back... its not worth it !
I had the option to write it off but choose to repair it....wish I hadn't now !
Take the money and buy a new one!
(Depressed at lack of TVR driving)
