All you pre-cat drivers, what petrol are you using?
Unleaded, Super, Optimax, or LRP?

Optimax when I can, if not then super unleaded. Ordinary unleaded if I have to, but it seems sweeter - and better mpg - on super. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we're supposed to use LRP.

When over on mainland I use Shell Optimax - very good.
Unfortunately we can't get Optimax in Ireland so I use unleaded with Miller's VSP Plus (Octane Booster & Lead Replacement)in my 4.3 Griffith. Runs very well on this combo. As far as I know you can use LRP in a precat.

gotta be optimax, I have had to run it on unleaded a couple of times though and it seemed fine.

In my 4.3 I put whatever petrol is at the garage in mine, always unleaded, don't bother with super. Occasionally put in some good old fashioned leaded petrol to coat those valve seats, but as far as running goes, seems the same to me. I'll admit I do try and avoid supermarket petrol though - had a bad experience with some Tescos petrol once!

Steve

Why would you need to know that

I either use Optimax if I can get it on standard unleaded if I can't (4.3). Not sure if Optimax helps but I managed to get 158mph at Brunters on Sunday using it . Not tried it on standard UL
