On my (new - to me that is) 4.3 Griff, I've noticed that when I fill her up there is a tremendous pressure under the petrol cap - almost blows it off - I have to undo slowly. Is this a fuel breather pipe problem, or something else? How serious is it?

Thanks

My Griff 500 is similar - but it runs very smoothly and has reasonable fuel consumption so I've never been bothered by it.
(Someone else will now say that your car (and mine) is about to explode! )

All TVRs owned by people with surnames beginning with M do eventually explode - didn't you know that?

Most Griffiths and Chimaeras I know of do this, i.e. have a residual pressure in the fuel tank when you take the cap off to refill. a) don't worry about it and b) back to the cap off a quarter turn when you replace it - or at least this is what I was told to do by my dealer, seems to work. Rich...

Don't want to worry you but mine has managed to 'emit' petrol past the filler cap.

Easily fixed once back at dealer though...

Never had that happen and I've had the car 4 1/2 years now and always fill it to the brim (about £35+ in Optimax) strange eh? Rich...
