Woo-hoo! Picked up a Griffith 500
Discussion
Woo-hoo!! Took the afternoon off work yesterday to collect my Chimaera from the garage (couple of niggly little things gone wrong) and guess what I did? Yep, you guessed it - I took a Griffith 500 for a test drive and bought the damned thing. I'd seen it last week when I dropped the chimaera off, and had a good nose round it. It's starmist chianti with magnolia and looks gorgeous - particularly in this sunshine...
Was impressed by the non-stop acceleration (my chimaera was 4.0), and handling seemed firmer, although bumpier on crappy roads. I pick it up next saturday, once it's been MOT'd etc, and they're fitting a whole host of Leven bits and bobs that i bought this morning. Roll on next weekend!
Is there anything I should look out for on a Griffith other than the usual TVR-isms? It's a 93L, 38,000 miler, although I reckon it's had a front end respray at some stage - it looks brand new.
Woo-hoo again!!

yep, talk about torque - it just keeps on pulling. Very pleased that I started my love affair with TVRs in a 4.0 - I'm not sure that a 5.0 is the place to start unless you really know what you're doing.
Thanks for the tips about the bonnet and the glove box (they all do that sir!) - I can't wait to have decent poke around it next Saturday.
Leaving the office NOW, so have a good w/e chaps and keep 'em shiny side up.

Well done Bouffy, hopefully will see the new Griff gracing the roads around Bedford soon, with there them golden locks flowing in the wind as i mistakingly called u a Bird before i am glad u have seen the light and brought a MANS car:ducksforcoverfromChimpowners:
Where did u get it from, Offotds??

BB - yes, picked up the one from Offords. Do you know the car?
Initially I had a good look at it when I dropped my Chimaera off - to be honest I just liked the colour and as I've always preferred the shape of the Griffith, I thought it was too good an opportunity to have a nose around it. With my limited technical knowledge, it looked like it was in good nick, so I asked about trading in the chimaera. Simon was very helpful and suggested i took it for a spin when I picked mine up.
After driving it, i fell totally in love - it's much more hairy-arsed than the 4.0 Chim, more responsive and more of a drivers car. It felt quite bumpy on the crappy B roads round offord, but on the long sweeping bends it was awesome. I also liked the fact that they've been servicing it over the last couple of years and know the car well. Makes me feel more confident about it.
I can't wait to get my grubby mitts on it on Saturday - the car club are sending a whole load of leven stuff there today, so it should all be fitted for me by the time i pick it up...this is already the longest week of my life, and it's only Tuesday. Aaarrrggghhh!
Looking forward to bumping into the ballistic banana on the mean streets of bedford - I've seen a few chimaeras around, but never caught sight of the yellow beast (although my brother has). Perhaps we could cruise the embankment together on a saturday night? Er..only joking.
